From the center of the rotunda on the ground floor, visitors can look upward to the dome and see forty-three stars, thirteen of which are larger to represent the thirteen original colonies. All together, they indicate that Idaho was the forty-third state to enter the union. On the grounds visitors will find three trees planted by presidents, including a water oak planted by President Benjamin Harrison, whose proclamation admitted Idaho into the union.
