The dome of today’s capitol is modeled on the one over Napoleon’s tomb, rising
seven stories above statues of Abraham Lincoln, Jefferson Davis and other famous
Kentuckians. In fact, much of this capitol has drawn its inspiration from France,
including the marble stairways leading to the second floor and the Louis XIV State
Reception Room. 502-564-3449 General hours Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Guided tours are offered, if a guide is available, at 9, 10, 11, 1, 2 and 3. Groups of ten or more should call ahead. Closed Sundays and regular state holidays. PLEASE NOTE THE ROTUNDA WILL BE CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS THROUGH FEBRUARY 2010.
