The dome of today’s capitol is modeled on the one over Napoleon’s tomb, rising seven stories above statues of Abraham Lincoln, Jefferson Davis and other famous Kentuckians. In fact, much of this capitol has drawn its inspiration from France, including the marble stairways leading to the second floor and the Louis XIV State Reception Room.
