The draped figure of The Lady of Wisdom rises atop the dome. Inside, black
limestone floor tiles, placed during the past renovations, contain many fossils. 207-287-2301 Free guided tours of the Capitol: Please note that guided tours must be scheduled in advance. Visitors may take self-guided tours during open hours; plaques are located throughout the building. The building is closed all state holidays. Additionally, the building may be closed for all "goverment office closure days." Please call ahead to verify capitol access during your proposed visit.
