California Capitol Building



Building Hours:
Weekdays: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Weekends: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Admission: Free

The tour office it located in basement Room B-27.

Guided tours are offered 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. The last tour of the day runs at 4:00 p.m. Please note that though the last tour is at 4:00, the office is open until 5:00.

The capitol is closed January 1st, Thanksgiving, and December 25th.

The stamp for California is located in the visitor’s center, basement of the rotunda.

Taking a tour of the California state capitol building is worth your time! I learned about the history of the state during the tour. If you don’t have time to tour the building, you MUST visit the gardens that surround the capitol. There are beautiful plants, trees, and flowers. There are also many areas to sit in the shade and enjoy the day.  — the Hannas
